Peninsula Community Health Services (Cottonwood)

OUR MISSION:

Strengthening Our Community by Providing Accessible and Affordable Healthcare

Peninsula Community Health Services of Alaska, Inc. (PCHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with oversight by the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). We are located in the beautiful Central Kenai Peninsula, in the Last Frontier state of Alaska. We have three sites providing integrated care:

  • Site in Soldotna offering medical, psychiatry, behavioral health, and eye care
  • Two sites in Kenai offering:
  • Medical, psychiatry, behavioral health
  • Dental

We employ approximately 25 providers and 85 clinical and administrative support staff. In 2021, PCHS served 5,882 individuals.

As an FQHC, we are a safety net provider for our community of about 39,000 people. We also work with the local hospital for patients in need of inpatient or surgical care. Aligning with our mission, to provide accessible, affordable healthcare, we meet stringent quality of care requirements established by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and offer sliding fee discounts to patients that qualify. The sliding fee discount is based on family size and income, and we provide services to our patients regardless of ability to pay. Our staff enjoy working with an organization that diligently strives to meet the needs of our patients and community.

  • PCHS is certified as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) based on our achievement and submission of performance measurements and the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS).
  • PCHS is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for behavioral health.
  • PCHS is a member of the National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA) for dental.
